Super League goes super size for 2022 Championship Series

Super League Triathlon is back for Season 4, bigger and hopefully better than ever with an expanded Championship Series schedule for 2022.

The hugely popular short-course made-for-TV concept has been a real hit with triathlon fans and a wider audience in recent years, airing on a number of major broadcast networks around the world.

It produced epic entertainment again in 2021, culminating in that terrific finale in Malibu where Georgia Taylor-Brown and Alex Yee snatched the titles in dramatic fashion.

Alex Yee beats Marten Van Riel in an epic finish in Malibu in 2021.

An all-star cast of athletes will again do battle in 2022, across a Championship Series schedule which was announced on Tuesday.

Team concept adds new wrinkle

We also have a new wrinkle in 2022, with the evolution of the Team concept first launched in 2021.

A true professional league will be part of the offering as SLT launches team franchises. And one of these will now be owned by fans, who will be given the opportunity to make major decisions which will have a significant impact on the racing – more details here.

Fans who sign up to become team owners will help decide which athletes get drafted into the team, giving the chance to play fantasy triathlon in real life and have a huge impact on who wins the 2022 Championship Series.

Super League CEO and Co-Founder Michael D’hulst said: “Super League Triathlon is going into its fourth season and continues to expand as we will now head to more exciting destinations with events in all the major triathlon markets as part of our commitment to drive innovation, develop a true spectator sport and create even greater value for our athletes.

“We will also take the next step on the journey of our Teams concept to create the first official Professional League for triathlon and to develop team franchises.”
