Whidbey Island Marathon

Washington State’s Whidbey Island is the setting for the Whidbey Island Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K & 1K, which takes place each spring on the second-longest island in the continental United States.Whidbey Island is the perfect island weekend getaway where you can leave the city behind. Just north of Seattle, nestled up in Washington State’s Puget Sound is Whidbey Island. As a destination vacation playground for many, the island provides a vehicle accessible getaway from the busier mainland. Providing picturesque ocean views and tranquil farmland, the full marathon and half marathon courses of the Whidbey Island Marathon & Half Marathon promise to be as scenic and challenging as ever.
As a participant of the event, on top of a well needed vacation, you will receive plenty of goods and services to help celebrate your accomplishments. Both the full marathon and half marathon courses will have plenty of on-course water and aid stations and finishers of both events will receive a custom designed technical fabric shirt, and a unique one-of-a-kind finisher’s medal.
Course Highlights
The course for the marathon starts on Hwy 20 at Rosario Road to Ducken Road. From there, the point-to-point course cross over a brdige and winds through paved city streets, country roads and trails, taking runners and walkers (the race is open to both) along Bayshore Drive, through Windjammer Park, ultimately southward toward Windjammer Park on the middle portion of the island near Penn Cove. For most of the race, the marathon offers gently rolling hills, with the most significant changes in elevation.
