Split Marathon

Split Marathon is an event composed of 5 races: a full marathon, a marathon relay, a half marathon and the Slobodna Dalmacija Trophy (5 km race).Something for everyone!!!
The Split Marathon is an event originated from the Split Half Marathon organized by Maraton klub Marjan, with the beginnings going back to 2001 when it was held for the first time. In the first years it was held exclusively in the area of Marjan Forest Park, and since 2007 it has been held with the start and the finish line on the Riva waterfront as part of St. Dujam’s celebration.
In 2015, the course is changed, it retains the start and finish line on the Riva waterfront, but is circular and through big part of the city and near all of its most interesting symbols.
In 2016, the Split Half Marathon changes its date to the last weekend in February, which has resulted in a significant and continuous increase in the number of participants. The increase in the number of participants also increases the number of accompanying events such as a sports fair and kids’ races.
It’s not easy to run 42 or 21 km. But it’s definitely easier if you are running in surrounding that will inspire you. Number of cultural monuments of city 1700 years old, mediterranean ambience and sports heritage of “The most beautiful city in the World” how its habitants are calling it, are more then enough reason for your application.
Course Highlights
The course goes along the Riva, Diocletian`s Palace, Grgur from Nin, City park, toward East. The trail then continues to Poljud Stadium and Marjan Forest Park where recreation zone Bene and Oceanographic Institute are.The final stage passes by the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments and leads to the western part of the Split harbor where the last kilometer of the half marathon is run looking at the unforgettable view of Split.
