Athora Great Bruges Marathon

After three physical and one virtual edition due to COVID-19, the long-awaited fifth edition of the Athora Great Bruges Marathon will take place on Sunday 17th October. In this marathon with a culinary flair, you run through the historic city centre of Bruges, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and along a few picturesque polder villages. The date for this fifth anniversary had already been announced and you can sign up from now on!The Athora Great Bruges Marathon has made the conscious choice to remain loyal to its formula for success of the previous years. 100% of the course is on Bruges’ territory. The start of the marathon is in the historic centre by the Dijver. Participants will first run in a northerly direction to the coast of Zeebrugge and will then return to finish in the shadow of the Belfry on the Grote Markt. Stretches through picturesque villages like Lissewege, Koolkerke, Dudzele and Zwankendamme will allow participants plenty of opportunity to familiarise themselves with everything that Bruges has to offer.
Course Highlights
Start & finish are located in the heart of the historical city center. First the race course will take participants for a sightseeing tour through the old town. The second portion of the race will lead all the way to the beautiful Belgian Coast and back to ultimately finish on the famous ‘Grote Markt’.
During the event, participants will be able to enjoy the best features Bruges has to offer and tons of animations along the course.
